Harrison Ford's MCU debut in 'Captain America' sequel teased by Kevin Feige: 'A dream for years'

At the age of 80, Harrison Ford is about to add another iconic film franchise to his resumé.

The actor, who starred in the "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" films, is set to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, something that "has been a dream for years" for Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

"To have him finally in the MCU is just incredible," Feige added, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published Wednesday. "It's like, I can cross that off the wishlist."

Ford is set to play Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, a role previously played by the late William Hurt. Ford is set to debut in the part in 2024 in "Captain America: New World Order," which stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson.

"(Harrison is) tireless with the amount of work that he does," Feige said. "This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross."

Feige noted that Ford's Ross will be president of the United States in the upcoming Marvel film.

"There's a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson," Feige added. "They have a history together, but in this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible."

A Marvel role seems to have been on Ford's wish list for a while. The actor explained his motivation for taking the part in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published last week.

"I thought, 'Everybody else seems to be having a great time,' " he said. "I watch all these terrific actors having a good time (in Marvel movies). I like doing something different to what I’ve ever done and pleasing people with it. So I’ll try a piece of that."
