Heather Rae El Moussa is not gaining any sympathy from fans after sharing a glimpse into her mom life. She posted a “behind-the-scenes” video of everything it takes for her to get ready while watching 20-month-old son Tristan, who she shares with husband Tarek El Moussa, and it sparked major backlash.

While we don’t ever condone mom shaming, many people were upset by her unrelatable video that didn’t account for her privilege. “No two mornings are ever the same in the El Moussa household — balancing life as a business owner, TV personality, wife, and mom keeps things interesting, to say the least!” the Selling Sunset star captioned the video. “If you’ve ever wondered what a day in the life looks like, here’s a behind-the-scenes peek at the real hustle — and this isn’t even half of it! ?? #BehindTheScenes #DayInTheLife #GlamAndGrind

But while many moms can relate to struggling to work from home and parent or afford insurmountable daycare costs or many other issues, El Moussa’s problems seem to be that she is simply too busy having her hair and makeup done to enjoy any downtime.

She holds Tristan in her lap, while professionals makeup artists and hairstylists are making her look glam. Tristan isn’t even upset. He’s just casually eating a snack while they help her get ready. Another angle shows she’s actually getting an in-home pedicure at the same time. The clip also shows Tarek leaning down to read Tristan a book, Heather Rae lighting candles and drinking iced coffee in her slippers (which she obviously didn’t go out to get herself), and the mom of sharing a smooch with her husband after she got dressed for work, with Tristan likely being watched by a nanny.

The video, set to “Just a Girl” by No Doubt, had people feeling a little jealous. “It’s called mom life. And most of us don’t have assistants and Nannie’s to help. But thanks for keeping the struggle real. ??” one person wrote.

“Not to be a rude comment but it must be nice to have a hair stylist and manicurist come your home like that,” someone else commented. “Make up too? I’d love to have that. It would take so much time off my daily routine. Heck, right now I can’t even comb my hair or style it. I just had shoulder surgery.”Another said, “I was raised not to brag about your blessings but to share your blessings. Unfortunately most working moms don’t have the same privileges because we live in a real world vs a REALITY world.”

Even celebrity parents struggle with balancing it all, and just because you have money, or fame doesn’t make your life perfect. Heather Rae’s post just feels a little insensitive when many of us are trying to figure out grocery substitutions because the cost of eggs is too high, and she is having an at-home spa experience and talking about the “grind.” Maybe if she acknowledged the privilege, people would feel better.

Heather Rae hasn’t addressed the comments, but she did share another series of photos on Instagram, talking about how she found time for a date night in the midst of her busy schedule. Her and Tarek are all dressed up in the impromptu family photoshoot featuring Tristan, which was taken before the couple went to Us Weekly and Pluto TV’s Reality Stars of the Year event on Thursday night.

“Date nights are few and far between these days due to how busy our schedule can get, and honestly, I debated for days whether I even felt like getting ready in full glam and leaving the house after a long week of filming and flipping,” she wrote. “But sometimes, you just have to push yourself to show up for both yourself and your partner ?”

She described the evening with old friends the “best time,” adding, “It’s important to make space for these moments, and celebrating how far we’ve come in our journey – both together and individually – that remind us why it’s all worth it ??”

Despite how you feel about Heather Rae, she has a good point. Taking time for yourself to focus on what matters is important, no matter what that looks like for you.

These celebrity parents have admitted to struggling with work-life balance.
