Heavy metal legends ‘Metallica’ performing at Lane Stadium in May
BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR)—Get ready to shake Blacksburg to the ground. The legends of heavy metal Metallica are taking over Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium in May 2025.
Scheduled for May 7, 2025, the announcement is part of group M72 World Tour. This must-see show will set the tone and bring in the start of the summer with a bang.
Metallica is a heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1981. The group has been together for almost 30 years, sold over 90 million albums worldwide, has won seven Grammy Awards, award winners at the American Music Awards, and Billboard Rock and Roll Artist of the Year in 1999, making them one of the most successful bands in history. With a cult-like following of fans, they are renowned globally and have toured alongside other music giants including Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax.
Some of their top hits include Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, One, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Battery, Blackened, Fade To Black, Harvest of Sorrow, Welcome Home, Enter Sandman, and Orion.

Limited presale tickets go on sale starting on Monday, September 23. Organizers expect the show to sell out quickly and encourage anyone interested to act fast to secure a spot.
General admission tickets will then go on sale to the public on Friday, September 27.
