Heeramandi, the latest Netflix web series, took the world by storm with its release a month ago. The period drama was a fictitious take on the Diamond Bazaar of Lahore during British rule. Created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it features an ensemble cast. It included Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, and Sharmin Segal in crucial roles.

While the ending of Heeramandi left everyone on the edge of their seats, it is now set to return for another season. During the first week of June 2024, Netflix announced the new season with an extravagant style.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi to return with Season 2?

Taking to their Instagram handle, Netflix India shared a new video in which about 100 dancers performed together to Heeramandi’s tracks. Clad in yellow, red, and many other ethnic attires, they all performed on a fusion of the tracks at an event at Carter Road, Mumbai.

At one point in the performance, the dancers made a formation that read S2, confirming Heeramandi Season 2. The caption read, “Mehfil phir se jamegi, Heeramandi: Season 2 jo aayega. Choreography by: @iamkrutimahesh.”

In a recent interview with Variety, creator Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed that it took him years to make Heeramandi. Following the release of Gangubai Kathiawadi, he dedicated all his time to the new web series.

Regarding what the new season will feature, Bhansali said, “In Heeramandi 2, the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They leave Lahore after the partition and most of them settle in the Mumbai film industry or Kolkata film industry. So that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that’s the second season we are planning, let’s see where it goes.”

The release date of Heeramandi Season 2 has not been revealed yet.
