Here's the complete list of Broadway plays and musicals opening this fall

Musicals about Tammy Faye and Louis Armstrong?

A revival of "Our Town" starring Jim Parsons? A new play starring Robert Downey Jr.? Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone together on stage? Audra McDonald as Mama Rose?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

This fall, 16 shows are coming to Broadway, including a new version of "Romeo and Juliet" starring Kit Connor and Clifton native Rachel Zegler — with music by New Jersey's Jack Antonoff.

Also part of the 2024-25 season are a few shows that opened over the summer: "Home"; "Oh, Mary!"; "Job"; and "Once Upon A Mattress." And of course there's much to look forward to in the spring.

It has all the makings of a great season. Here's a look at all the shows scheduled to open. Keep in mind dates, and ticket prices, are subject to change.

'The Roommate'

Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone star in Jen Silverman’s play that press materials say "shatters expectations with its witty and profound portrait of a blossoming intimacy between two women from vastly different backgrounds, as they navigate the complexities of identity, morality, and the promise of reinvention." 'McNeal'

Robert Downey Jr. stars as Jacob McNeal, a great writer and perpetual candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature. But McNeal also has an estranged son, a new novel and an unhealthy fascination with Artificial Intelligence. Pulitzer Prize-winner Ayad Akhtar’s new play is described as "a startling and wickedly smart examination of the inescapable humanity — and increasing inhumanity — of the stories we tell." 'The Hills of California'

Tony-winning playwright Jez Butterworth ("The Ferryman") and Oscar- and Tony-winning director Sam Mendes reunite in this play that takes place in a 1970s summer. The Webb sisters return to their childhood home in Blackpool, an English seaside town, where their mother Veronica lies dying upstairs. Previews Sept. 11, opens Sept. 29, closes Dec. 8. 'Yellow Face'

Tony Award winner and three-time Pulitzer finalist David Henry Hwang ("M. Butterfly") makes his Roundabout debut with the Broadway premiere of his "is-he-or-isn’t-he" comedy of identity, show business and (perhaps) autobiography, according to a release. Inspired by real events, the playwright’s fictionalized doppelg?nger protests yellowface casting in "Miss Saigon," only to mistakenly cast a white actor as the Asian lead in his own play. 'Our Town'

Starring four-time Emmy Award winner Jim Parsons, "Our Town" returns to Broadway for the first time in over 20 years. Thornton Wilder‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon, features a cast of 28 actors including Katie Holmes ("All My Sons"), Zoey Deutch (Netflix’s "The Politician"), Ephraim Sykes ("Ain’t Too Proud"), Billy Eugene Jones ("Purlie Victorious") and Richard Thomas ("To Kill a Mockingbird," "The Waltons."). 'Left on Tenth'

This new play by Delia Ephron, based on her bestselling memoir, is a romantic comedy about second chances in life and love. Directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, this Broadway premiere stars Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife”) and Peter Gallagher (“Grace and Frankie”). 'Romeo and Juliet'

Emmy Award winner Kit Connor (“Heartstopper”) and Golden Globe Award winner Rachel Zegler (Spielberg’s “West Side Story”) star as Romeo and Juliet in Tony Award-winning director Sam Gold’s ("Fun Home") visceral and visionary production. 'Sunset Blvd.'

Ready for your close-up? Nicole Scherzinger stars as the immortal Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, reimagined by director Jamie Lloyd in this acclaimed West End revival. Haunted by her memories and dreams, a movie star past her prime yearns to return to the big screen. A struggling screenwriter who can’t sell his scripts to the Hollywood studios may be her only hope, until their dangerous and captivating relationship leads to disaster. 'Maybe Happy Ending'

Even robots can be swept off their feet. Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Darren Criss returns to Broadway alongside Helen J Shen in this new romantic/science fiction musical comedy. Inside a one-room apartment on the outskirts of Seoul, Oliver lives a happily quiet life, listening to jazz and caring for his favorite plant. But what else is there to do when you’re a Helperbot 3, a robot that is considered obsolete? When his fellow Helperbot neighbor asks to borrow his charger, what starts as an awkward encounter leads to friendship, adventure and maybe even … love? Previews begin Oct. 16, opens Nov. 12. 'A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical'

Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart stars as Satchmo in this new musical about the legendary jazz musician's rise to worldwide fame. Written by Aurin Squire and directed by Christopher Renshaw, with co-direction from Christina Sajous and Iglehart; the show features hits like “What a Wonderful World” and “When You're Smiling.” Previews Oct. 16, opens Nov. 11. 'Tammy Faye'

Katie Brayben, Christian Borle and Michael Cerveris star in this show that premiered at London's Alemeida Theatre in 2022. Directed by Rupert Goold, "Tammy Faye" features music by Elton John, lyrics by Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears, and a book by James Graham. It’s the 1970s. As satellites broadcast brand-new cable programming into American homes, millions fall in love with Tammy Faye Bakker, the charismatic wife of pastor Jim Bakker. 'Death Becomes Her'

Madeline Ashton is the most beautiful actress ever to grace the stage and screen. Helen Sharp is the long-suffering author who lives in her shadow. They have always been the best of frenemies … until Madeline steals Helen’s fiancé away. Based on Robert Zemeckis' 1992 film, this musical comedy stars Megan Hilty, Jennifer Simard, Christopher Sieber and Grammy Award winner Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child fame. 'Swept Away'

An odyssey of “mythic proportions" says the San Francisco Chronicle, "Swept Away" is a new musical about the survivors of an 1888 shipwreck off the coast of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Directed by Michael Mayer ("Spring Awakening"), the show features a book by Tony winner John Logan ("Moulin Rouge!"). Previews Oct. 29, opens Nov. 19. 'Cult of Love'

It's a Broadway debut for playwright Leslye Headland ("Bachelorette", TV's “Star Wars: The Acolyte), with a story about four adult children returning to their childhood home, with families in tow, for Christmas. Second Stage calls it an "equally heartwarming and heartbreaking new play about the things that bind families together ... or tear them apart." Set to be directed by Tripp Cullman, the piece previously played Williamstown Theatre Festival and Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Previews begin Nov. 20, opens Dec. 12. 'Gypsy'

Everything's coming up Audra. The six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald comes back to Broadway to star as Madame Rose in this revival of the Jule Styne-Stephen Sondheim-Arthur Laurents classic, directed by George C. Wolfe. The revival is the first show to play the Majestic Theatre after "Phantom of the Opera" closed its doors last year. Previews Nov. 21, opens Dec. 19. 'Eureka Day'

What's more theatrical than school debates? Starring Zo? Chao, Amber Gray, Jessica Hecht, Bill Irwin and Thomas Middleditch, the premiere of Jonathan Spector's comedy at Manhattan Theatre Club centers around arguments over vaccinations at a private California elementary school. Directed by Anna D. Shapiro, the show comes to Broadway after a run in London. Previews Nov. 25, opening Dec. 16. Samuel J.
