Kaitlin Olson is bringing her talents to a new show, ABC’s High Potential, premiering on September 17. The latest procedural promises a more interesting spin on the usual, so it’s not the typical detective drama series. With Olson’s flair for comedy, this show is sure to be a lot of fun.

High Potential, created by Drew Goddard (The Good Place), is based on the French show Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI) and focuses on a single mom with a high IQ who assists with police investigations. Check out the cast and all the character details below.
Meet the High Potential Cast
Kaitlin Olson as Morgan
Kaitlin Olson, who stars on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Hacks plays Morgan Gillory on High Potential. According to the ABC website, Morgan is “a single mom with three kids and an exceptional mind who helps solve an unsolvable crime when she rearranges some evidence during her shift as a cleaner for the police department.”
Daniel Sunjata as Karadec
Daniel Sunjata, best known for playing Franco Rivera on the FX series Rescue Me, plays Detective Karadec. He’s a by-the-book cop who has to learn to work with Morgan to solve crimes. The show’s Instagram account describes the character as “sharp, measured, and observant … a throwback to the era of hard-charging investigators with a solid moral code.” In a High Potential preview, Sunjata called the show “a combination of murder of the week, with laughter and drama in the process, and great acting by a great cast.”
Judy Reyes as Selena
Judy Reyes, best known for playing Carla Espinosa on Scrubs and Zoila Diaz on Devious Maids, stars in High Potential as Major Crimes’ Lieutenant Selena Soto. She’s a tough boss, for sure. “She’s the architect of the Morgan experiment, so she needs it to work: Her job is on the line,” the show’s Instagram account reveals. In the High Potential preview, Selena is open to Morgan’s help to “spot the things my detectives miss.” Reyes explained, “What attracted me to the series was the whole girl power of it all.”
Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil
Deniz Akdeniz is best known for his roles as Aladdin in Once Upon a Time and Max Park in The Flight Attendant. He plays Detective Lev “Oz” Ozdil in High Potential, which he said, “is a bit different than other crime shows because we have a lot more fun. The crime has to get solved but that little element makes it quite different to other shows.” The show’s Instagram account shares, “Oz became a detective to help the people of LA, He’s a junior detective and glass-half-full type of guy — and that can be both his greatest virtue and his worst vice.”
Javicia Leslie as Daphne
Javicia Leslie is best known for playing the title role in The CW series Batwoman and Red Death in The Flash Season 9. She plays Daphne Forrester in High Potential, who is described on the show’s Instagram as “A rising star junior detective in Major Crimes who’s not afraid of anything or anyone.” She calls the series “fun, creative, sexy, colorful,” adding, “and there’s a murder all the time – and I love that.”
High Potential premieres on September 17 on ABC at 10 p.m. and streams on Hulu.
