‘High Potential’ Showrunner Todd Harthan Signs 20th Television Overall Deal (EXCLUSIVE)

Todd Harthan has signed a new multi-year overall deal with 20th Television, Variety has learned exclusively.

The news comes roughly a month after Harthan was named the showrunner and executive producer of the upcoming ABC procedural “High Potential” starring Kaitlin Olson, which is produced by fellow Disney-owned studio ABC Signature. Harthan took over the role from Rob Thomas, who exited the show earlier in June.

Harthan has a relationship with 20th TV going back a decade. He previously collaborated with the studio as an executive producer on the Disney+ series “The Crossover,” executive producer and showrunner on the Fox medical drama “The Resident,” and creator, executive producer, and showrunner on the Fox series “Rosewood.” He was also an executive producer on the ABC spy drama “The Company You Keep.”

Harthan’s other credits include shows like “Psych,” “The Kill Point,” “Crash,” and “Dominion.”

He is repped by UTA, Circle Management + Production, and Yorn Levine.

“High Potential” is slated to debut on ABC on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT immediately following “Dancing with the Stars.” The series is based on the French show “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI)” and stars Olson as “a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective,” per the official description. Daniel Sunjata plays Detective Karadec. “High Potential” also stars Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Osman, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot and Judy Reyes as Selena.
