High Potential: Sparks Fly Between Kaitlin Olson and Daniel Sunjata in Trailer for New ABC Crime Dramedy

Kaitlin Olson isn’t a regular mom-turned-crime scene investigator — she’s a cool mom-turned-crime scene investigator.

ABC has released the official trailer for High Potential, a new dramedy in which Olson stars as Morgan, a single mother whose remarkable ability to spot specific details lands her a job helping the authorities crack tough cases. Or as her daughter puts it, Morgan is “a single mom with three kids pretending to be a cop.” Morgan prefers “consulting” over “pretending,” but we’ll let that slide for now.

Morgan works directly under Selena (Judy Reyes) and Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), the former of whom sees great potential in Morgan to be more than just “the cleaning lady.” The latter, however, will take some convincing; as seen in the trailer, he isn’t quite as sold on Morgan’s worth as an investigator.

Then again, Morgan and Karadec may have a more interesting future together than either expect. The final shot of the trailer introduces a character played by Ken Marino, who isn’t the least bit subtle about what a hot couple the two would make. Do we have a will they/won’t they situation on our hands? We’re sure that Morgan’s ex, played by Taran Killam, will have something to say about it.

Based on the French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel, the series also stars Javicia Leslie (Batwoman), Deniz Akdeniz (The Flight Attendant), Amirah J (Shameless) and Matthew Lamb (Only Murders in the Building).

High Potential premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 10/9c on ABC. Hit PLAY on the trailer above for your first look, then drop a comment with your thoughts below. Will you be tuning in?
