James Corden and Shaggy collude on 'It Wasn't Me' to parody Mueller investigating Trump
James Corden and Shaggy colluded on The Late Late Show with James Corden to create some new lyrics for the hit song “It Wasn’t Me” about Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
Corden played Mueller and Shaggy, on the show to promote the March 23 release of his new Netflix film, Game Over, Man!, played the role of Donald Trump. The video opened with Mueller outside the Oval Office, singing to Trump: “Special counsel got you sweating like crazy, tweeting that it’s ‘a witch hunt.’ Open up, got some evidence ’bout Russia — evidence you should confront. I’m just trying to learn truth and figure out how much you knew. All this time, my investigation never took its eyes off you.”
The video eventually reached the famous chorus, and Trump vehemently denied the allegations, saying “It wasn’t me!” as Mueller asked, “I want to know who conspired, with Russian bots who were hired? Treason may have transpired. I think your pants are on fire.”
Mueller also brought up the alleged “pee tapes“: “Shall we talk about the pee tape?” he asked. “We’ve got a copy on replay.” Again, Trump insisted that “it wasn’t me.”
At the end of the video, Trump was arrested by the FBI. It will be interesting to see if life imitates art.
The Late Late Show with James Corden airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
