Hilary! Chad! Jennifer! A Look Back at the Star-Studded Premiere of “A Cinderella Story” 20 Years Ago
Jesse McCartney, Brie Larson and Jesse Plemons celebrated with the cast on the pink carpet
It's been 20 years since A Cinderella Story!
The movie, which premiered on July 16, 2004, starred Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray as they stepped into the roles of Sam and Austin — a modern-day Cinderella and Prince Charming. The updated take on the classic tale had star power that went beyond the iconic teens and included Jennifer Coolidge and Regina King.
Shortly before the film hit theaters the pink carpet was rolled out and the cast — along with a group of special celeb guests — celebrated the premiere in L.A. Take a look back at some of the best photos from the carpet, two decades later!
Hilary Duff
Hilary Duff led the cast of this modern-day retelling of the classic fairytale as Sam — a teen who works in her late father's diner, which is now run by her cruel stepmother Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge).
Chad Michael Murray
The Prince Charming to Duff's Cinderella came via Chad Michael Murray's Austin Ames.
Jennifer Coolidge
Jennifer Coolidge's turn as Duff's ruthless guardian came after early 2000s audiences had fallen in love with her for her role as Paulette in the Legally Blonde films and Stifler's mom in American Pie.
Regina King
Regina King starred as the godmother character, Rhonda, who always has Sam's best interest at heart.
Jesse McCartney
As one of the hottest pop stars of the early 2000s, its no surprise Jesse McCartney made an appearance at the 2004 premiere — the same year his hit single "Beautiful Soul" was released!
Sophia Bush
One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush also made an appearance at the premiere shortly after the beloved teen drama first hit television.
Brie Larson
Before she was an Oscar-winning actress, Brie Larson hit the red carpet in this on-theme look (yes, that's a frog wearing a bedazzled tiara on her T-shirt).
Jesse Plemons
Jesse Plemons was just a few years away from landing his breakout role as Landry Clarke on Friday Night Lights when he hit the red carpet in 2004.
Jason Ritter
Though Jason Ritter does not appear in A Cinderella Story, he starred alongside Duff in another 2004 film, Raise Your Voice.
Alyson Stoner
Alyson Stoner — in those signature pigtails — had recently starred in Cheaper by the Dozen with Steve Martin.
Alexa PenaVega
Alexa PenaVega (née Vega) rocked jeans and a tank top for the 2004 festivities following her turn as Carmen Cortez in the first three Spy Kids movies.
Haylie Duff
Haylie Duff showed her support for her sister's big night — matching the light pink carpet no less!
Kyla Pratt
Amid her busy schedule in the early 2000s, which included roles in Love & Basketball, One on One and lending her voice as Penny Proud on The Proud Family, Kyla Pratt stopped by the premiere in a classic early aughts jean skirt and flip-flops.
Madeline Zima
Madeline Zima played one of Duff's two onscreen stepsisters also vying for Austin's heart, after a six-season stint as Grace Sheffield on The Nanny.
Dan Byrd
Before he went on to star alongside Courteney Cox in Cougar Town, Dan Byrd played Sam's lovable best friend Carter in the 2004 film.
Julie Gonzalo
After appearing alongside Murray in Freaky Friday the previous year, Julie Gonzalo starred his onscreen girlfriend- turned-ex-girlfriend, Shelby.
Erica Hubbard
Erica Hubbard played fellow cheerleader and friend of Shelby's, Madison, in the film before going on to star in Akeelah and the Bee and Lincoln Heights.
