Hilary Duff welcomes a baby girl named Banks with Matthew Koma
Hilary Duff’s baby girl has arrived.
The Younger actress welcomed her first child with her singer-songwriter beau of nearly two years, Matthew Koma, on Thursday. It was a home birth, and the couple named their new addition Banks Violet Bair. (Bair is Koma’s real last name.) They are already in love, Duff noted.

Koma posted the same photo and an equally sweet message on his Instagram, writing, “We welcome a beautiful daughter, little sister, and best friend for life. Could not possibly be more grateful for our growing family.” He also thanked Duff for making “it all possible,” adding that he’s on, “Cloud ten.”
The new dad celebrated by dyeing his hair pink.
And Duff has shared a few more shots of Banks.
While Koma is a first-time dad, Duff is already mom to her 6-year-old son, Luca Comrie, from her marriage to Mike Comrie.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment in August, she talked about Luca adjusting to the idea of a sibling (“‘She’s staying forever?’”) and bragged about her exceptional newborn swaddling skills. As for Koma, she said he’s a night owl, so that will help during sleepless nights.
Duff, who rose to fame as a child star in Lizzie McGuire, announced her pregnancy in early June — and also dropped the news that it would be a girl. (Or, in her words, “a little princess.”) She later shared a throwback video from their gender reveal party. The star jumped up and down (and up and down some more) when the party poppers that she, Koma, and family members and friends shot off revealed a shower of pink confetti.
Asked if she had given much thought to raising a girl versus a boy, Duff told Yahoo Entertainment, “When I sit back and think about it, I think: Oh, I want a confident daughter who knows which things are really important and what aren’t. Those are really big picture things that won’t happen for a while though.
“With Luca, he’s so rough and tumble. We’re so physical together — and so jokey and playful. I feel like, with a daughter, it’s going to shift into something a little bit different,” she said. “But I’m a daughter. I have a sister, [Haylie Duff], who has two daughters. So I think I have some natural intuition there. … And I think it will happen naturally. We’re going to grow as we go.”
