Hobbit Day celebration coming to East Hills Library
Sep. 9—East Hills Library will host a daylong celebration on Sunday, Sept. 22, for National Hobbit Day.
The event celebrates the birthday of the famous Hobbits, Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, both created by 20th-Century British writer, J.R.R. Tolkien. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., on Sept. 22 at 502 N. Woodbine Road.
A "Hobbit's full daily meal" will be served, according to the East Hills Library's website. However, the big treat of the day will likely be the showing of all three movies in the series, based upon the novels by Tolkien. The first of the three films will start at 9:10 a.m. All three movies are rated PG-13.
There are currently over 70 seats remaining for this event, and those interested should register in advance by calling the East Hills Library at (816) 236-2136.
Costumes are encouraged, but no weapons — real or fake — are allowed.
