That 'Holy Trinity' picture, Brittany Murphy's peculiar death, and other pop culture moments you might've forgotten about
Paris Hilton always seem to pop up out of nowhere, and this week was no different. The glamorous, 36-year-old heiress took us back to 2006, when the world became witness to the threesome heard round the world — Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan packed into an SUV (before Uber) after a night out of partying. Eleven years later and Hilton shades Lohan by admitting, “It was just Brit and I out. And then she just like chased us to the car and got in. She wasn’t invited.”
As discussed on Tuesday’s episode of The Morning Breath, this picture would have been a much more impactful story had social media been alive and thriving in ’06. Co-host Claudia Oshry is all of us when she admits, “I didn’t appreciate how iconic it was. It would have been my cover photo back then.”
Claudia and other TMB co-host Jackie prompted us to reminisce on other iconic pop culture moments that we shouldn’t forget about. And if appropriate, they should serve as our cover photos.
Brittany Murphy mysteriously dying right before her creepy husband croaks too
This is simply not discussed enough. Brittany Murphy, our beloved Clueless star, died when she was only 32 years old. Prior to her untimely death, the actress was fielding scrutiny for her marriage to director and producer Simon Monjack, who was eight years her senior. Murphy was said to have died of pneumonia, but we’re not completely buying that story, especially considering Monjack died just months later, in May. This is so eerie and not talked about enough!
P.S.: The eighth anniversary of Murphy’s death will be Dec. 20.
Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s entire life together
It’s no wonder Khloé and Lamar didn’t go the distance, considering the two married on their one-month anniversary of meeting in 2009. From there, chaos ensued. The couple traveled back and forth to Dallas when the NBA player was traded and even took in younger brother Rob as a third roommate. The couple’s E! reality show, Khloé & Lamar, ran for two seasons before their marriage suffered irreparable damage due to Odom’s drug addiction. Odom’s closest friend, Jamie Sangouthai, was often featured on the show as Odom’s reliable yet rambunctious best friend. He died just months before Odom’s drug addiction nearly killed him in fall 2015. Though the couple was separated at the time and fans held out hope for a reconciliation between the two, Khloé ultimately filed for divorce and terminated any hope for a romantic future.

This one’s for you, Claud. During what’s ;isted as the fourth most-watched television series finale in U.S. history, the world bid farewell to Ross, Monica, Rachel, Joey, Phoebe, and Chandler in a two-part episode that warranted gregarious laughs and overflowing tears from viewers at home. This 10-year-long show was truly iconic and the series finale reflects that status.
Whitney Houston found dead in bathtub night before the Grammy’s
World renowned singer and The Bodyguard actress was found dead of an apparent drug overdose just hours before Clive Davis’s annual Grammy’s party in 2012. The 48-year-old led a controversial life riddled with cocaine abuse and alleged domestic abuse at the hands of singer and former husband Bobby Brown. Ten years before her death, Houston gave a bizarre interview to Diane Sawyer and coined the famous term “crack is whack” when responding to drug use allegations.
Chillingly, Brown and Houston’s only child together, Bobbi Kristina, was also found unconscious in a bathtub just three years later, in January 2015. The 22-year-old died months later.
Kanye interrupts Taylor Swift at the VMAs
Lest us not forget where this monumental feud started. It was at the 2009 VMAs where Swift won a Moonman for Video of the Year for her hit “You Belong With Me,” beating Beyoncé’s video for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” West stormed the stage and like the Yeezus he is, shouted “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”
Had this insane moment happened in the world of social, the ramifications of the on-stage incident would have been a lot greater. Ah, to recall the times before inconspicuously recording phone calls and leaving snake emoji under Swift’s Instagrams.
