‘The Honorable: Shyne’ Documentary, Produced By DJ Khaled, Coming To Hulu
A documentary exploring the life and career of Shyne is officially in the works.
Andscape, the Black-led multimedia brand from Disney & ESPN, has begun production on The Honorable: Shyne. ColorCreative, a management company dedicated to supporting diverse creators, is leading production for the project.
Executive producers of the feature are DJ Khaled, Talitha Watkins, Carolina Groppa, Ameer Collier, Raina Kelley, and James Shani. The film is directed by Marcus A. Clarke.
Set to debut on Hulu September 2024, the documentary chronicles the life of Moses Michael Levi Barrow from a humble immigrant teenager to his role today as a prominent politician. This includes untold revelations of his life-changing night outside Club New York and unpacks his emotional journey navigating his devastating incarceration.
As described in a statement, The Honorable: Shyne makes use of exclusive interviews, archival footage, and time-period recreations to examine how growing up in the golden era of Hip-Hop influenced not only Shyne’s artistry, but his perspective.
Additionally, it delves into how the environmental realities of street life in Brooklyn shaped and contributed to his life choices, taking the former Bad Boy artist and Diddy protégé to his current position as Leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives, and Leader of The Belize United Democratic Party.
“I intend for this film to immerse audiences in Shyne’s remarkable journey of transformation, as he transitions from a Brooklyn rapper to a prominent diplomat in Belize. It captures his profound process of self-discovery, marked by redemption, ultimately guiding him toward a life dedicated to public service,” explained Clarke.
“The world has waited patiently to hear Shyne’s story, so it’s truly a privilege for me to collaborate with ColorCreative and Andscape to bring this film to life.”
