Need a hotel in El Paso for the Sun Bowl? Here are 6 close options
Visitors coming to the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl have plenty of choices for hotel stays in El Paso.
Less than a couple of miles from the Sun Bowl are several hotels in Downtown El Paso with spacious rooms, rooftop bars or lounges, and good restaurants for enjoying Mexican and Southwest food.
Here are six hotels in the University and Downtown area to consider:
Hilton Garden Inn El Paso, University
Your closest option to the Sun Bowl Stadium, they're on the campus of the University of Texas at El Paso, half a mile from Cincinnati Avenue.
El Paso International Airport is nine miles away – they offer a free shuttle both ways and to other locations within five miles. Their Great American Grill restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Pavilion Pantry is open 24 hours for drinks and snacks.

Hotel Paso del Norte
The more than 100-year old hotel in Downtown El Paso re-opened in 2020 after three years of a multi-million dollar renovation. The hotel renovations include a virus-killing air-filtration system throughout the hotel.
The 351-room Marriott Autograph Collection hotel is located at South El Paso Street and San Antonio Avenue across from the El Paso Museum of Art and near the Plaza Theatre.
The hotel features the elegant Dome bar, with a 25-foot-wide, 107-year-old, stained-glass dome, El Mirador, a rooftop pool and bar on its 10th floor, the Sabor restaurant, the 1700o Steak House, a quaint Dulce bakery café and a cigar lounge. The hotel's main restaurants and rooftop bar will have New Year's Eve celebrations.

Hotel Indigo at the Plaza
Hotel Indigo at 325 N. Kansas St. in Downtown El Paso is a renovated boutique-style hotel with mid-century modern architecture.
Take the elevator to the fifth floor for the check-in area and check out the views of Downtown El Paso. Be sure to enjoy a cocktail at the rooftop bar, Circa 1963.
Bedrooms will give guests a taste of El Paso's history in the form of murals.

Double Tree by Hilton El Paso
At 600 N. El Paso St., the hotel is across the street from the El Paso convention center and features spacious guest rooms, a 7th-floor lounge, and 42-inch flat-screen TV in all rooms.

Courtyard by Marriott Downtown
At 610 N. Santa Fe St., the hotel is near the El Paso Museum of Art and 1.7 miles from the Sun Bowl Stadium. The hotel offers accommodations with a restaurant, private parking, sun terrace and a shared lounge.
On the fifth floor, guests will find an outdoor pool with striking views of Southwest University Park and other areas of Downtown El Paso.

Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park
The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park is one of the newest hotels to open. The newly restored, historic boutique property opened in late 2020 at 106 W. Mills Ave. The hotel has a great history with the likes of A-listers such as Conrad Hilton, Elizabeth Taylor and other Hollywood elite staying there.
The hotel features 130 rooms and some great amenities including a spa, the ámbar Restaurante, a wood-fired Mexican cuisine, and La Perla, the hotel's private rooftop bar and lounge.
