A spinoff of HBO’s mega-hit Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon takes place about 200 years before Thrones, tracing the conflicts that plague the ruling Targaryen dynasty. Emma D’Arcy stars as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, with Matt Smith as her uncle Daemon and Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, the widow of Rhaeynra’s late father Viserys.
Season 2 will feature the climactic battle for power known as “the Dance of the Dragons,” with the Greens (the Hightowers, Aegon & Co.) and the Blacks (Rhaenyra, Daemon, etc.) fighting to claim the Iron Throne. (Watch a teaser here.)
House of the Dragon’s sophomore run will also welcome a number of new cast members including Clinton Liberty (Normal People) as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna (Coronation Street) as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew (Warrior) as Hugh, Tom Bennett (After Life) as Ulf, Tom Taylor (The Bay) as Lord Cregan Stark and Vincent Regan (Poldark) as Ser Rickard Thorne. They join previously reported Season 2 additions Gayle Rankin (GLOW), Freddie Fox (Slow Horses), Simon Russell Beale (Penny Dreadful) and Abubakar Salim (Raised by Wolves).
