Hugh Jackman fans are 'disappointed' he's friends with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner
Hugh Jackman has always been a likable celebrity, but some fans are struggling with his friendship with Javanka.
It was quite a surprise to many that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were at the actor’s 50th birthday bash — and he was asked about it at Tuesday’s premiere of his latest movie, The Front Runner. Jackman made it clear that the pair, who work for her daddy/his daddy-in-law Donald Trump in the White House, aren’t bonded by their political beliefs, telling Variety, “I’ve known those guys for 15 years, and we don’t talk politics at birthday parties.”
Compared to other Hollywood stars, Jackman hasn’t been vocal about his political beliefs. Makes sense — the Australian star doesn’t vote in the U.S. anyway, despite being a longtime New Yorker. He did, however, support Trump’s opponent at a Broadway fundraiser for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
While Jackman and his wife, Deborra-lee Furness, have long been social with Javanka — they share a mutual friend, Wendi Deng, the ex-wife of Rupert Murdoch, and Nicole Kidman is also part of this social circle — Twitter has found the news unsettling. So unsettling for one fan that her thirst for Jackman has evaporated.

Ick that Hugh Jackman is so tight with Rupert Murdoch and also Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner. He's allowed to pick his own friends, I'm allowed to be disappointed. https://t.co/TV7AfugPMu pic.twitter.com/SvyOnjpnvG

"Jackman…made it clear that his friendship with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner is not a reflection of his values."
Um. Yes, it is. And it is disappointing. https://t.co/21Lh2l0ATA

Truly disappointed Hugh Jackman is friends with Ivanka and Jared Kushner who have used their government positions to benefit their businesses and enable Trump and his cruel and awful policies. Disgraceful.

FFS. I have been going along for years thanking my lucky stars that Jackman seemed to be “one of the good guys.” Damn it. Now I guess I’ll have to lump him in with Jimmy Fallon, whom I didn’t start hating, but whom I never forgave after the whole ruffling-Trump’s-hair thing. https://t.co/akrsfofrjC

However, others are supportive of the friendship and say the friends should be praised for staying tight despite their political differences.
So see Democrats, it can be DONE! Hugh Jackman stayed friends with Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump by not talking politicshttps://t.co/iyDGqvsr0Q

Hey……calm down, people, Hugh and Ivanka Trump have been friends for ages. If he shuns a friend because their FATHER is a stupid president, is it your ideal hero Hugh Jackman? I'm pulling for Hugh. He didn't do anything wrong.

The Front Runner is being called his most political film to date. It’s about Democratic Sen. Gary Hart’s ill-fated 1988 presidential campaign. Jackman plays Hart, and the film also stars Vera Farmiga and J.K. Simmons. It will be in theaters on Nov. 21.
