The Futurama revival is continuing at Hulu. As Variety reports, the streamer has renewed the animated series for two more seasons.
After 10 years away, Hulu ordered a Futurama revival that saw Season 11 premiere this summer, with Season 12 expected to debut next year. Now, fans can look forward to 20 more episodes, bringing the cult series up to Seasons 13 and 14. The reboot reunites original cast members Billy West (Fry), Katey Sagal (Leela), Tress MacNeille (Mom), Maurice LaMarche (Kif), Lauren Tom (Amy), Phil LaMarr (Hermes), David Herman (Scruffy), and John DiMaggio (Bender), who initially declined to return until he and the streamer negotiated his pay. Even Coolio appeared in the most recent batch of episodes for a posthumous reprisal of Kwanzaa-bot.
Matt Groening’s series has had an especially interesting run over the years. It initially aired on Fox from 1999 to 2003, and in 2008, Comedy Central gave the show new life by re-editing four direct-to-video films into a fifth season. Two more aired on the network until 2013. The latest revival picks up in the current day, offering updates on the lives of its beloved characters while also touching on timely topics like vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and, of course, streaming TV.
