Humor & Harmony Festival kicks off in downtown Shreveport
Downtown Shreveport was buzzing Thursday afternoon in anticipation of the Humor & Harmony Festival.
"Shreveport is open for business," said Orville Hall, G-Unit growth advisor.
Starting at 6 p.m. Aug. 8, The Humor & Harmony weekend kicked off at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, with a comedy show at Municipal Auditorium.
Check out the weekend schedule:
Before the show, Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson hosted an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the Humor & Harmony Weekend festival.
"This has been an amazing thing that has taken place over about 90 days," Arceneaux said. "I want to thank the staff of the City of Shreveport... so you could enjoy what this weekend is going to be."
This weekend festival will benefit the G-Unit Foundation.
Jackson entered into an agreement with the City of Shreveport April 18 to lease the city-owned production studio at 300 Douglas St. for 30 years at a yearly rate of $2,400.
This studio will be home to the G-Unit Studios.
"I am excited about this opportunity,” Jackson said in prior reporting, claiming G-Unit Studios will mirror the Tyler Perry studio in Atlanta to a degree.
