Hysteria!: Julie Bowen’s ’80s Mom Is Haunted by Demons in a New Teaser — Plus, Get Peacock Release Date
Julie Bowen is going back to the ’80s to play another suburban mom in Peacock’s Hysteria!… but she’s got a new supernatural foe this time.
The Emmy-winning Modern Family alum plays a Walkman-wearing mom in a new teaser for the upcoming series — which you can watch above — bopping around her kitchen to the tune of the Belinda Carlisle classic “Heaven Is a Place on Earth.” She gets a dose of hell, though, when the ground starts shaking… and she sees a gnarly-looking demon staring back at her in the reflection of her microwave.

Peacock also has announced a release date for Hysteria!: It’ll premiere Friday, Oct. 18 on the streamer with all eight episodes, TVLine has learned, with the series premiere also airing that day on USA Network and Syfy. (USA Network will air all eight episodes weekly after that.)
Set during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s, Hysteria! takes place in a suburban town where the local varsity quarterback has mysteriously gone missing. “A struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band,” according to the official description, “until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported ‘supernatural activity’ triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them.”
Along with Bowen, the cast includes Anna Camp (The Good Wife), Emjay Anthony (Physical), Chiara Aurelia (Cruel Summer), Kezii Curtis (Insecure) and Nikki Hahn (American Housewife), with “special guest star” Bruce Campbell (Ash vs. Evil Dead). Matthew Scott Kaine (Stitchers) and David A. Goodman (The Orville) serve as writers and executive producers.
