It’s been 10 years since Ian McShane wrapped the widely loved Western series Deadwood, and frankly, we haven’t seen him in the lead nearly enough since.

That’s one reason to be excited about The Hollow Point, which stars McShane as a border town sheriff who gets in deep mierda with Mexican cartels once he launches a crusade to cut off their flow of guns and ammunition from the U.S.

You can watch the exclusive trailer for The Hollow Point above; today we’re also announcing that the film will hit theaters Dec. 16.

After being involved in fatal run-in with a gun smuggler, McShane’s Leland is replaced with a new sheriff, Wallace (The Conjuring star Patrick Wilson). Wallace’s reign won’t be any easier, though, especially once the cartel starts striking back against law enforcement.

Written by Nils Lyew and directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego (Apollo 18), The Hollow Point also stars John Leguizamo, Lynn Collins, and Jim Belushi.
