Iconic Chicago Fast Food Restaurant Hits Back at Donald Trump’s Pets-Eating Claim With Bold Message
Viewers were shocked and perplexed during the presidential debate on Tuesday, Sept. 10, when Donald Trump claimed that immigrants were eating people's pets in Springfield, Ohio—and people are finding all manner of hysterical ways to clap back at his remarks.
“They’re eating the dogs. They’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there,” Trump said, to which Vice President Kamala Harris laughed and called him "extreme." Debate moderators immediately clarified that city officials said the pet-eating claims were not true.
Now, one famous Chicago fast food restaurant is shading Trump with their iconic sign.
A photo shared on Facebook by the hot dog stand Weiner's Circle shows the eatery's sign with an all-new message: "Immigrants eat our dogs."
"Te gustan los perros caliente? Venga aqui. No gatos! #presidentialdebate," the caption reads, which translates to, "Do you like hot dogs? Come on in here. Not cats!"
Commenters were highly amused by the clever quip, with one dubbing the eatery "undefeated."
"For the WIN!" agreed a second person, with another Facebook user saying, "This made my day."
"What about cat? Can I get cat?" cracked someone else.
This isn't the first time Weiner's Circle has engaged in political humor. During the Democratic National Convention, their sign read, "Now serving Trump footlongs. It's 3 inches."
Actor Mark Hamill even made a point to stop by and pick up a dog at the time, posting a photo of himself standing in front of the sign to Instagram with the hashtag #SizeMatters.
"You’re in it to win it @wienerscircle !" commented one follower.
