There’s a viral poem that has been floating around the internet lately, titled “Four Friends Catch Up over Pasta.” “This is delicious,” the final verse reads. “The sauce, the salad / this night / all of it.” Sub elderflower cocktails, a 1965 Aston Martin, and Tom Hiddleston for “the sauce and the salad,” and you have the perfect encapsulation of Ralph Lauren’s glamorous spring/summer 2025 runway show—a delectable evening hosted in bucolic Bridgehampton, New York, horse country.
Not one to cut corners, Ralph Lauren infused the debut of his most recent ready-to-wear collection with touches that were as significant as they were breathtaking. For one, guests (the invite list included Jill Biden, Naomi Campbell, Anna Wintour, Usher, and our editor in chief Asad Syrkett) were treated to a meticulously executed reincarnation of the Polo Bar—Lauren’s buzzy East 55th Street restaurant.
No detail was overlooked. The Polo Bar’s aged saddle-leather accents, plaid throw pillows, brass lanterns, and deep green beadboard walls were all transported east. Signature cocktails like Ridgway margaritas (an ode to Lauren’s home in Ridgway, Colorado) and old-fashioneds (served in Garrett double-old-fashioned crystal) flowed all evening.
On the grounds of Khalily Stables, which functioned as the night’s venue, guests could also gaze at (and swoon over) a sampler of the 84-year-old design legend’s car collection: including the aforementioned 1965 Aston Martin DB5, as well as a 1973 Ferrari 365 GTS Daytona and a 1958 Mercedes Benz 300 SL Roadster. Lauren is, indeed, one of the world’s top car collectors, has called the Hamptons home for more than 50 years, and is a titan of classic American style. The evening served as a testament to all of that, honoring his passions while bringing together fellow tastemakers for some late-summer revelry.
The pinnacle of this see-and-be-seen occasion, of course, was the actual runway show, where models flaunted snappy blazers, sequined slips in colors evoking Long Island’s coastline, breezy nautical dresses; and other clothing that straddles the fence between relaxed and country-club glamour. Post-show, dinner featured a locally sourced menu with highlights like top-of-the-line seafood and the famed vertiginous Polo Bar burger. Guests were kept well oiled with wine pairings, some of them from the North Fork of Long Island.
It all exuded a sense of family togetherness, timelessness, Americana, and the celebration of a well-lived life. Ralph Lauren, clearly, does not miss.
