Iman posts rare shot of herself and David Bowie on what would be their wedding anniversary
David Bowie may be gone, but he left behind a love story with wife Iman that continues to inspire romantics all over the globe two years after his death.
On what would have been the 26th anniversary of their wedding, the former fashion model posted a rare, apparently unposed, glimpse at their union on her Instagram account.
When I count my blessings, I count you twice. April 24th #BowieForever

“When I count my blessings, I count you twice,” Iman sweetly captioned the photo, which not only makes poetic sense — it is logistically accurate as well. Bowie and Iman had a private wedding ceremony on April 24, 1992 in Lausanne, Switzerland, which was followed in June of that year by a more elaborate celebration in Tuscany.
Although the pair chose traditional wear for the second ceremony (Bowie in white tie, Iman in white gown), the rare photo Iman posted shows a more playful, casual look — with both wearing less formal suits and sunglasses. What’s most remarkable, however, is their dual expressions of sheer joy.
Iman told The Guardian in 2014 that she wasn’t looking to fall in love when she met Bowie — and certainly didn’t want to fall in love with someone of his public profile: “I was not ready for a relationship. Definitely I didn’t want to get into a relationship with somebody like him. But as I always said: I fell in love with David Jones. I did not fall in love with David Bowie. Bowie is just a persona. He’s a singer, an entertainer. David Jones is a man I met.”
Bowie was born David Jones, but changed his name to “Bowie” at the age of 18, to avoid confusion with musician Davy Jones of the Monkees.
Bowie died on January 10, 2016 of liver cancer — two days after his 69th birthday, and two days after the release of his final album, Blackstar.
