At the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, Andress preceded the Major League Baseball event after an introduction from Marcello Hernández. The "Saturday Night Live" comedian warmed the crowd up prior to Andress' "The Star-Spangled Banner" performance.

Then, the Nashville singer-songwriter and four-time Grammy nominee took the field to perform the anthem.

After the anthem's performance, social media users went wild, criticizing Andress' vocals.

Andress' pitchy high notes and "singing in cursive" were major points of criticism, alongside the rendition being "interesting" in general.

Many social media users jumped on Andress, saying that her performance finally outweighs Fergie's 2018 performance at the NBA All-Star Game for the most tragic anthem rendition.

Ingrid Andress apologizes for anthem performance, 'I was drunk last night'

On Tuesday afternoon, Andress posted a message on her Instagram, addressing her performance.

Andress said, "I'm not gonna bulls*** y'all, I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need."

"That was not me last night," she continued.

"I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab is I hear it's super fun. xo, Ingrid."

Comments from the country music community in support of Andress are pouring in on her vulnerable post.

"I’m sending you love, Ingrid," Carly Pearce said. "Being this open takes a lot. You’ve got this. Hang in there. ??"

Singer-songwriter Julia Michaels commented, "Love you girl. I’m sorry you’re going through this And I’m sorry the world can be so cruel. Here for you xx"

Who is Ingrid Andress, the singer behind the national anthem performance?

Andress is a 32-year-old Colorado native and country singer.

Andress attended Berklee College of Music, dropped out after her frustrations with the curriculum, performed on NBC's "The Sing-Off" in an a cappella group, and then finished her degree.

Afterwards, she moved to Nashville in 2013.

Andress focused on writing songs for other artists, like Charli XCX's 2017 song "Boys" and "Girl in the Mirror," Bebe Rexha's 2019 tune.

Andress released her breakthrough single, 2019's "More Hearts Than Mine," which hit number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

She has now garnered four Grammy nominations, including Best Country Song, Best Country Album, Best New Artist in 2021, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2023 for song "Wishful Drinking" with Sam Hunt.

Listeners may known Andress for songs "Bed on Fire," where she sings alongside Teddy Swims, "Feel Like This" and "Lady Like."

Andress' latest release is the April song "Good As Gone" with Marc Scibilia, a singer-songwriter from New York.
