Exclusive: It’s What’s Inside, which lands on Netflix on Oct. 4, marks the first time husbands Colman and Raúl Domingo produced a feature film together.

In an exclusive featurette from Netflix, the couple discussed their work on the thriller — Colman executive producing and Raúl producing for their company Edith Productions, which they started at the beginning of the pandemic — as well as with writer and director Greg Jardin.

“A lot of things that we do are a Trojan horse, like you don’t see it coming,” Colman said of Edith’s projects.

“The principle, I think, also, is entertain you while gutting you,” Raúl added.

“It’s usually put into some package. It could be a beautiful cake, but then you realize that there’s a shiv inside,” Colman said. “Or some glitter. You never know.”

The film stars Brittany O’Grady, James Morosini, Gavin Leatherwood, Nina Bloomgarden, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Reina Hardesty, Devon Terrell and David Thompson. The story follows a group of friends that gather to celebrate their one friend, the groom, before his wedding, at a party that slowly turns sideways when a friend on the edge of the group surprises everyone and brings a mysterious game into the mix that stirs up past skeletons, regrets and more.

Raúl first read Jardin’s script before passing it to his husband.

“I remember I saw Greg’s vision so clearly,” Raúl said. “There was no stone unturned, and all the characters were really dynamic, and everything about it was really magical.”

Both Colman and Raúl praised the cast that came together for the project.

“What actor gets an opportunity to play one character or two or three in the same film?” Colman said. “It also became deeper than I thought it would be — I thought — because of the performers, to be very honest, I think we all helped assemble a really incredible group of young performers.”

Raúl agreed with his husband.

“Absolutely. I think it’s also how greatly the characters are, not only drawn, but how they are explored, one once that other people assume them,” Raúl said.

“That was the incredible genius of Greg’s mind,” Colman added. “We want to get behind this artist and really help his vision come true.”
