Liam Payne was enjoying “quality time” with girlfriend Kate Cassidy in Buenos Aires in the days before his shocking death.

Us Weekly confirmed on Wednesday, October 16, that the One Direction alum died at age 31 after falling from a third floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Prior to his passing, Payne took to social media to share a glimpse into his vacation with 25-year-old Cassidy.

In one Snapchat video that appeared to have been posted earlier this week, Payne shared that he was having a “lovely day in Argentina” as he and Cassidy enjoyed “coffee and breakfast.”

Another post featured a selfie of the couple which was captioned, “quality time,” while yet a third pic showed the pair posing in front of a mirror while wearing swimming attire.

"We're going to ride some horses. I think I'm gonna be playing polo again, which is gonna put me out of action for about six weeks,” Payne told his social media followers via an additional clip from the social media platform.

In the video, Payne admitted that while he wanted to play polo “for fun,” it was difficult to do and his neck and back sometimes hurt from “swinging that hammer around or mallet.”

Cassidy also teased snippets of their vacation and time together over the past few weeks via her TikTok account.

The influencer shared a montage of photos in a post upload on October 12, which was captioned “80% of these photos are food.”

In several photos, Cassidy and Payne are pictured at their horse-riding session.

Alongside the photo of Payne on a horse, Cassidy wrote, “I am very grateful for the simple things in life” and added a heart hands emoji and a love heart.

“Life catch up the past few days,” she added on a photo of herself on a horse, while another photo was captioned, “I want to start getting more into this.”

The pair also spent a few nights on the town in Argentina,  attending a Paul McCartney gig when the former Beatles member played at the River Plate Stadium earlier this month. Payne was also seen at former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan’s show at Movistar Arena on October 2, where he was spotted dancing from a private box and talking to fans.

While it’s unclear if Cassidy was still in Argentina at the time of Payne’s death, police are investigating the musician’s death after responding to a 911 call prior to his fatal fall.

Us confirmed on Wednesday that the Buenos Aires City Police from Station 14B were dispatched during the afternoon to the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, where Payne was staying. The officers were acting on a call reporting an “aggressive man who may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” according to the official police report.

He noted that seven minutes later, a nearby SAME team arrived on scene and “confirmed the man’s death.”

“Unfortunately, he had injuries incompatible with life due to the fall, so we had to confirm the death,” Crescenti said, adding, “There was no possibility of resuscitation.”
