J. Cole drops surprise album ‘Might Delete Later’
(KRON) — Rapper J. Cole dropped a surprise album on Thursday night titled “Might Delete Later.”
The album contains 12 tracks and has a total runtime of 43 minutes. It has features from artists including Ari Lennox, Gucci Mane and Cam’ron.
“Might Delete Later” is Cole’s first album since he released “The Off-Season” in 2021. It is his seventh studio album.
Cole, 39, has been at the center of the hip-hop industry’s most recent “beef.” He collaborated with Drake on a song titled “First Person Shooter,” stating that himself, Drake and Kendrick Lamar are the “big three” in today’s rap game.
Lamar responded two weeks ago in a feature on Future’s “Like That,” claiming there was no “big three,” just “big me.”
Cole brought his own response on the new album’s last track, “Seven Minute Drill.” He appears to critique Lamar’s discography and say the Compton rapper isn’t as good as he once was.
“He still doing shows, but fell off like the Simpson’s,” Cole says.
On Sunday, Cole is set to headline the “Dreamville Fest” music festival in Raleigh, NC. SZA, Nicki Minaj and 50 Cent will perform as well.
J. Cole, whose birth name is Jermaine Cole, hails from Fayetteville, North Carolina. He has released classic hip-hop songs such as “No Role Modelz,” “Work Out,” and “MIDDLE CHILD.” His label Dreamville Records has signed artists such as Lennox, JID and Bas.
