A’ja Wilson attended an event with the US men’s and women’s basketball teams today during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The basketball star took a summer-ready route with her footwear picks, opting for white strappy sandals. The breathable style featured white leather uppers, open square toes and a crisscrossing thong construction that separates the athlete’s toes while keeping the style in place.
Although they weren’t visible beneath her trousers, it’s likely Wilson’s sandals featured stiletto heels. No matter the color or style, sandal heels have been popping off in 2024. Seen on stars like Naomi Watts, Anna Sawai and Teyana Taylor, the silhouette is perfect for those sweltering summer days because they allow the wearer’s feet to breathe. Dressed up with a maxi skirt or down with high-waisted denim, the sandal heel is exceedingly versatile, lending itself well to any outfit application under the sun.
Accompanying her strappy footwear, Wilson wore gray high-waisted jeans paired with a reflective metallic silver tank top. Additionally, the Olympian toted a slouchy black leather crescent-shaped Louis Vuitton shoulder bag with silver hardware and monogrammed detailing.
Wilson plays for the Las Vegas Aces of the Women’s National Basketball Association. The athlete won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, after beating Japan 90-75 in the final. This was the seventh consecutive Olympic gold medal for the USA women’s team. On Aug. 1, Wilson spoke with FN regarding landing her Nike signature sneaker shoe deal. Wilson’s Nike A’One releases in 2025.
“To be the next Black woman with a signature shoe, oh my gosh, I am so excited for next year. I can’t contain it,” Wilson said. “It’s such a big moment. When [the news] first dropped, Coach Staley hit me, Sheryl hit me, Lisa hit me and they were all like, ‘You deserve this.’ To have greats, Hall of Famers like that say that to me, I was like, ‘God, thank you.’”
