Jaden Smith bet on himself.
For the 2024 Met Gala, Jaden Smith wore his own sneaker collaboration with New Balance.
The young creative was dressed in all black and white. His look was a custom ensemble from Thom Browne featuring a white coat and a black skirt. On the inside of the sleeve of his coat was Brown’s trademark red, white and blue ribbon.
About the shoe
Smith’s sneaker was the New Balance MSFTSrep 0.01. He originally debuted the shoes in a gray colorway at Coachella in 2023 where he was a surprise guest performer. After releasing that shoe in 2023, he released the Panda colorway in black and white in April 2024.
The shoe takes inspiration from classic court sneakers from new Balance like the 550. In practice, this means that it is a minimal look. They feature suede accents and the New Balance logo on the side. On the opposing side is the MSFTSreps logo.

White piping make for a striking contrast. The shoe also features a segmented sole in three parts.
The sneaker retails for $110. It is the first shoe in the collaboration between the collaboration between the two labels but nods to Jaden’s previous signature shoe. It also uses proportions inspired by the Fibonacci Sequence. He’s been spotted out in the 0.01s previously.
The Met Gala raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and celebrates the Costume Institute’s annual exhibits. This year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” celebrates the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit. The 2024 event is notably co-chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
