With a lot of anticipation leading up to the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight on Netflix, fans were not too happy with ongoing screen buffering and freezing issues during the live event.

While the 27-year-old former YouTube star ultimately defeated the 58-year-old former undisputed heavyweight, some fans were honestly lucky if they even caught the showdown due to technical issues. Throughout Friday night, including during the earlier fights, some fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their complaints, including Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.

“Im in the classic torture chamber where I cant tell if my internet keeps going out or whether #netflix is just constantly buffering and unwatchable for everybody,” he wrote on X earlier in the night before later adding, “So the reports are in. #netflix wasnt ready for this. This is unwatchable.”

Many others seemed just as annoyed, with another person writing, “Netflix telling me to check my internet speed knowing full well it’s an issue on their end.” And someone else called it “the worst Live in sports entertainment history.”

While the top 13 trending topics on X were all related to the fight throughout the night, leading up to the main event, “NetflixBroken,” “unwatchable” and “#buffering” were also all trending.

The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Netflix, but the streamer had no comment to share at this time.

This isn’t the first time Netflix has faced technical problems during a live event. Last year, the live reunion for season four of Love is Blind was delayed by more than an hour due to issues. Though the streamer didn’t give any reason for the delay at the time, Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters later said the company was “really sorry to have disappointed so many people.”

The executive also stressed that the streamer has the infrastructure needed to do live broadcasts in the future… but that’s clearly still up for debate following the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight.
