Jakob Nowell Talks Sublime, Sobriety On ‘Lipps Service’

Jakob Nowell is the latest guest on the SPIN Presents Lipps Service podcast, during which he discusses growing up in a legendary musical family and carving out his own path in music with bands like LAW and Jakobs Castle. Listeners will learn about how Jakob came to front his late father Bradley’s band Sublime, their recent Coachella performance and what it’s actually like to sing this iconic music.

Nowell and host Scott Lipps also talk about his personal insights into sobriety and how it has impacted his life and career, the influences and childhood experiences that shaped his musicianship, learning to play guitar and his favorite Sublime songs and Southern California rock bands. Sublime will be on tour throughout the summer and fall, including an Aug. 3 appearance at the U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Ca., and a Sept. 22 set at Riot Fest in the Chicago suburbs.
