Jamie Dornan's 3 Kids: All About Dulcie, Elva and Alberta
Jamie Dornan shares three daughters with his wife Amelia Warner
Jamie Dornan is a proud dad to three daughters: Dulcie, Elva and Alberta.
The Fifty Shades of Grey star and his wife, film composer Amelia Warner, started dating in 2010 and wed in April 2013. They confirmed they were pregnant with their first child that June and welcomed their first daughter, Dulcie, in November 2013. Elva joined the family in 2016, followed by Alberta in 2019.
“Being a dad is the best,” Dornan told The Sunday Times in 2018. “I feel a healthy and lovely duty to provide for my kids, and I really like it. It suits me. Making my kids happy is a good thing for my wife and me to be driven by.”
During a February 2024 appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna, Dornan shared the best part of parenting daughters.

"All of it. The monumental challenge of it. It’s the best — I don’t know any other way,” he said. "Three girls, I don’t know how I’d be as a boy dad. I’m not sure I could deal with the energy. I’m someone who has a lot of energy anyway, I’m quite hyper often. We wouldn’t cope if there were three hyper boys in the house."
From how they react to seeing their dad in movies to their affinity for piano and playing dress up, here's everything to know about Jamie Dornan’s three children: Dulcie, Elva and Alberta.
Dulcie Dornan, 10
Two months after their April 2013 wedding, Dornan and Warner announced they were expecting their first child together. Their oldest daughter, Dulcie Dornan, was born in November 2013 in Canada, where Dornan was filming Fifty Shades of Grey.
Dornan told Belfast Telegraph in 2014 that while some pregnant women might have panicked at a move mid-pregnancy, his wife handled moving to another country well.
"A lot of people would have had a s--- fit at 30-something weeks pregnant hearing, 'Darling, we're going to Vancouver this week for four months — we're going to have a Canadian baby and I'm going to do a film where, for parts of it, I will be naked,' " he said. "That's a tough pitch but my wife is an incredible person."
Dulcie enjoyed Winnie the Pooh-themed parties for her 3rd and 4th birthdays, with Dornan dressing up in a full Tigger costume for one. Her 5th birthday party was disco-themed, and on her 6th, she celebrated with a birthday loaf of bread instead of a traditional cake. Warner wrote on Instagram that her daughter was a “wonderful (cake hating) girl” in a 2019 Instagram photo of the bread with lit candles that spelled out “happy birthday."
In February 2021, Warner shared that then-7-year-old Dulcie had “covered the house with inspirational quotes!” Written on colorful pieces of paper, the notes stated phrases like “you will never chang[e],” “if something is in your way fight it” and “be the tiger.”
Dornan loves bonding with his daughters — even if playtime throws some curveballs like dressing up in a pigtailed blue wig, red dress and gold heels.
"Dressing up with my daughters took a turn," the actor captioned a since-deleted photo of him in costume in May 2020. "Meet Jenny (with the blue hair). She's sweet."
The one thing the girls aren’t fond of? Dad belting out tunes. In December 2020, Dornan shared a since-deleted video on Instagram of himself singing “White Christmas” as Dulcie and Elva repeatedly shouted “Shush, daddy!” in the background. The Heart of Stone star jokingly captioned the clip, “Kids absolutely Loving it.”
Elva Dornan, 8
Dornan and Warner’s second child, daughter Elva Dornan, was born in early 2016, a few months after the actor and his pregnant wife were spotted walking around London in October 2015. Dornan flew to Canada 10 days after Elva was born, as he was about to film Fifty Shades Darker, he shared in an October 2018 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
"It's been a big adjustment and it's definitely harder and you get less time to yourself, but human beings are very good at adaptation," Dornan said on welcoming his second child during a 2016 appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan. "You have to just go with it and accept less sleep and accept less time in your hands and accept less reading of books and washing and all the usual things you do in a day.”
As his daughters get older, they’re starting to appreciate the perks of their dad’s job. They perhaps don’t, however, yet understand the lengths Dornan will go for them, including "pleading" with Universal to let him have a small part in Trolls World Tour.
He told PEOPLE in January 2022 that it “was very exciting for the kids to have Daddy in that.” He even walked in on Elva pausing the movie before Dornan’s character came on the screen so she could explain to her little sister that it was their dad's voice they were about to hear.
"Her mind wasn't really ready for that sort of information,” Dornan said of Alberta, who was then 2 years old. “It was too high concept for her. And then I sat with them whilst my part was on and was like going, 'That's Daddy!' And she just wasn't getting it."
In rare posts of her daughters, Warner has shown Elva at the piano — the mom of three gave her daughters home-school piano lessons during the pandemic — and rocking blinged-out accessories, writing in January 2020 that “Elva loves a bag.”
Alberta Dornan, 5
The youngest Dornan daughter, Alberta Dornan, was born in early 2019 after the Belfast actor’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE in October 2018 that Dornan and Warner were expecting their third child together.
In March 2019, Warner revealed that she and Dornan had welcomed Alberta with a since-deleted post on Instagram in honor of Mother’s Day in the U.K. The photo showed three pairs of children’s shoes — tiny white booties, slightly bigger silver boots and even larger pink sneakers.
“So proud of these three glorious girls, it’s an honour being their mummy..feeling incredibly lucky today #happymothersday,” she wrote in the caption.
During a 2018 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dornan shared that despite his busy schedule, he prioritized being there for his daughters’ arrivals.
“I’ve never missed a birth — I couldn’t live with myself if I missed the birth,” he said.
He also shared that he’d be able to “take proper time off for a few months after” his third daughter’s birth as, unlike with his first two kids, he was no longer “at the mercy of Fifty Shades‘ schedule.”
Now that all three of Dornan’s daughters are slightly more grown up, they have watched Barb & Star Go to Vista del Mar and can’t get enough of their dad's seagull-loving song, “Edgar’s Prayer,” from the 2021 comedy.
"When I say they watch it, I mean they mostly just watch my song," he told PEOPLE in 2022. "That's what they're obsessed with. Even the [then-] 2-year-old's obsessed with that and wants to watch that all the time.”
