Jamie Foxx To Discuss Health Scare In Upcoming Comedy Special: “I Gotta Do It My Way”
Jamie Foxx is prepared to open up about his 2023 health scare on his own terms. The acclaimed actor shared that he will detail the experience in a new special, returning to his comedic beginnings. Speaking on Sunday (March 3) as he accepted the Producers Award from the African American Film Critics Association, the 56-year-old relayed information on what is to come.
“Everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened, but I gotta do it my way. I’m going to do it in a funny way. I’m going to be on stage. We’re going back to the stand-up sort of roots,” detailed the Ray star per IndieWire.
“It’ll be called What Had Happened Was,” he continued.
In April 2023, Foxx was hospitalized due to a “medical complication,” as shared in a statement at the time from his daughter, Corrine Foxx. In July of the same year, the multihyphenate spoke out for the first time regarding the private matter.
By August, the star claimed he was “finally startin’ to feel like [himself].”
“You’re lookin at a man who is thankful… finally startin to feel like myself… it’s been an unexpected dark journey,” he said. “But I can see the light… I’m thankful to everyone that reached out and sent well wishes and prayers… I have a lot of people to thank… u just don’t know how much it meant… I will be thanking all of you personally… and if you didn’t know… GOD IS GOOD… all day every day,” wrote Foxx on social media.”
Neither Foxx nor his family have publically confirmed the initial reason behind his hospitalization.
