Jamie Foxx's daughter Corinne is still recovering from that time her dad embarrassed her — and had help from their entire family
To the world, Jamie Foxx is the Oscar-winning star of Ray, Collateral and Django Unchained who has also released popular songs, such as “Blame It.”
His 25-year-old daughter Corinne Fox knows him as all that and as her co-host of Beat Shazam. Mostly, her experience with him is as her father — you know, the loving but often embarrassing dad.
“There was a time when I was a cheerleader in high school,” Corinne tells Yahoo Entertainment. “It was like my senior game, and my dad shows up in the stands with my whole family, which was like 20 people, wearing shirts with my face on it.”
Of course, Jamie was behind the prank. He had sneakily asked his daughter to take a selfie for him earlier in the week.
Corinne’s cringing continues on their game show, where Jamie has been known to amuse the audience with his antics.
“My dad embarrasses me a lot,” Corinne says. “You can see this on the show when my dad is doing too much, or he starts dancing, or we play, like, sexy songs and he starts — I don’t even know — like, gyrating in the crowd.”
When that happens, Corinne admits that she turns into a “typical kid,” who rolls her eyes and just wants it to stop. She still enjoys working with him, though.
“He’s like a big kid, so it’s a good time. It’s not like working with an old man,” Corinne says before reconsidering. “Well, he is an old man — he just thinks he’s 25-years-old.”
Then she laughed before getting serious to talk about her dad’s generosity and how it led to her own good works for various causes.
“My dad is one of the most generous people on earth,” Corinne says. “Like, if you ask him for anything, he’ll give it to you; not in like a spoiled kid kind of way… but just in a way that he genuinely wants everyone to do well and feel well, and I think that kind of inspired my advocacy work.”
Beat Shazam airs Monday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
