Jared Leto's Thirty Seconds to Mars is starting tour in Milwaukee opposite GOP convention
Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto is returning to Milwaukee for the first time in 14 years with his rock project, Thirty Seconds to Mars — and it'll be smack dab in the middle of the Republican National Convention's downtown takeover.
Leto's band, which includes his brother Shannon on drums, will be at the Rave's Eagles Ballroom July 17 for what's currently the first North American date of Thirty Seconds to Mars' "Seasons World Tour," in support of 2023 album "It's the End of the World, But It's a Beautiful Day."
The Milwaukee show, announced Tuesday, is the band's first in town since 2010 (which was also at the Rave) and will take place a day before the band headlines Rock Fest's opening night in Cadott, in northwest Wisconsin.
The Milwaukee concert is a significant underplay for the band, with most venues on the tour much larger than the Rave's 3,500-person-capacity ballroom.
The show will take place during the third night of the Republican National Convention, which will be anchored at Fiserv Forum. While the Rave was included in the official RNC venue guide, venue co-owner Leslie West told the Journal Sentinel they were offering holds for potential tours due to "silence" over any potential RNC bookings.
Tickets for Thirty Seconds to Mars' Milwaukee concert, priced between $60 and $70, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the box office (2401 W. Wisconsin Ave.) and therave.com. The show is expected to quickly sell out.
