Is Jason Kelce Running for Governor of Pennsylvania? Here’s Arnold Schwarzenegger's Advice
Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
Once Jason Kelce announced he was retiring from football, fans began wondering if he would run for public office–specifically, for governor of Pennsylvania.
After weeks of speculation, the former Philadelphia Eagles center seemingly answered the question of whether he had any interest in holding the position in the future.
During the Wednesday, April 3, episode of the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Travis Kelce, the duo had special guest Arnold Schwarzenegger join them.
While interviewing the Terminator actor, Travis asked for his "professional political opinion" about whether Jason should "run for governor of Pennsylvania."
"I mean, he's got it all," Travis added.
Schwarzenegger, who served as the governor of California from 2003 until 2011, abruptly answered with some sound advice.
"Yeah," he said agreeing with the 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end. "But it has to be in his heart."

"He maybe has the right combination. The most important thing–number one–is name recognition, so, of course, he has that. But the second most important thing is you have to be passionate, you have to really say 'I see myself as the governor,'" the 76-year-old actor noted, underscoring Jason's apparent disinterest in holding the position.
"I saw myself as the governor and I was absolutely convinced that I [could] do a better job than the politicians did," he added. "There was certain things that I felt very strongly [about] and that people elected me because of that. And so, it depends, you know, if you are into the public service thing or not, if you are, of course you can win because you're an imposing figure, you speak really well, you're very clear, and all you have to do now is just convince the people [that] 'I'm the man.'"
"Which, they already know you're the man," Travis interjected.
"Don't get me pumped up and do this right now," Jason chimed in. "I got a clear vision of my career right now."
As the 36-year-old father of three attempted to cut them both off and stop the conversation from going any further, Travis and the former bodybuilder continued fantasizing about Jason's run. "I say we just start with [running for] mayor," Travis joked.
"No, forget the mayor," Schwarzenegger said, explaining he was offered similar advice before setting out to be the 38th governor of California. "You go for governor and then president."
"Don't get this started," Jason quipped. "Oh my gosh, folks," he said laughing.
So, no, it doesn't look like Jason Kelce has any plans to run for public office–at least, not yet.
