Days after Jason Kelce and his brother, Travis Kelce, addressed Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker's controversial graduation speech, the retired Philadelphia Eagles center sent a direct message about his wife, Kylie Kelce.
On Monday, May 27, Jason took to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight about his wife's role in their family. His message came in response to an X user who called Kylie a "homemaker whose home is a mess."
"I don’t think of Kylie as a homemaker, I think of her as my wife," the father of three wrote. "I think of her as a mother. She has an occupation, as do I, and we keep our house the best we can."
Jason explained their marriage is a "partnership" and that he and Kylie are "equals who are figuring it out on the daily" as they raise their daughters, Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 1.
He explained: "The only expectation is that we love each other, support one another, and are committed to our family, that comes first. We both raise our kids, we both work, We both keep our home. It is both our faults it is messy, but such is life with 3 young children, busy schedules, and neither of us being neat freaks."
Responding to this, because I have seen a number of people say it. I don’t think of Kylie as a homemaker, I think of her as my wife. I think of her as a mother. She has an occupation, as do I, and we keep our house the best we can. Our marriage is a partnership, we are equals… https://t.co/TnNsTW4o4B

After noting that Kylie "also makes a mean sandwich"—a reference to a joke he made on his and Travis' podcast, New Heights—Jason clarified that he was not minimizing the work that goes into being a housewife/stay-at-home mom.
"If being a homemaker, works for some, and that’s what they want, then hell yea, that’s awesome, more power to you," he concluded. "I want to be clear, I’m not downplaying that at all, but that is not our family dynamic."

Jason's message on X came after the Kelce brothers shared their reactions to Butker's commencement address at Benedictine College, a private Catholic university, during which he suggested that female graduates' lives wouldn't truly begin until they married and started a family.
"My wife, she was, I think, a little bit frustrated with some of the comments," Jason said with a straight face. "Initially, I said, 'Listen, you're going to need to go back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich.'"

Jason's joke prompted an extended period of laughter between the brothers, followed by Jason looking over his shoulder and adding, "I hope she didn't hear that, in all honesty."
