Jason Sudekis Put Travis Kelce on the Spot With an Awkward Question About Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have been dating for about a year now, depending on the exact timeline of their relationship, but some people seem to think Kelce should be shopping for a ring already. And during a charity event in Kansas City, MO over the weekend, the 34-year-old tight end was ribbed by Jason Sudekis, of all people, of when he's going to pop the question.

The moment occurred during Big Slick Celebrity Weekend, an annual event to support a local children's health nonprofit. Sudekis was joined by Robert Smigel and George Wendt for a revival of the old Saturday Night Live sketch "Bill Swerski's Superfans" when they welcomed Kelce onstage.

"If we want a new stadium, maybe Travis here could ask Taylor to flip the bill," said Smigel, to which Wendt responded, "What’s a few hundred million to Taylor? That’s what four tickets cost to her concert anyway."

At that point Kelce—who is an old hand at sketch comedy, having now hosted SNL himself—jumped in to interject. "She just got to Kansas City, boys. Jesus!" he exclaimed.

Sudekis then changed the subject with a joke that may or may not have been rehearsed ahead of time, and given Kelce's reaction, it seems safe to say that it wasn't.

"Travis, real talk, okay, just the guys here—Trav," the Ted Lasso star said, pulling down his sunglasses so he could look Kelce in the eye. "When are you going to make an honest woman out of her?"

After the crowd broke out into cheers, Sudekis continued. "Taylor doesn’t need to be working anymore and, again, I know your kicker agrees with me," he said, in a dig at Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker. "He gets it."

Sudekis was referring to Butker's commencement speech at Benedictine College on May 11, in which he addressed the women in the crowd as having "the most diabolic lies" told to them about their futures. He noted that while some would go on to lead successful careers, he "would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."

Given that Kelce has publicly defended Butker (although not the content of his speech) in the wake of the scandal, we have a feeling he didn't get a head's up about that part of the joke, either.
