Jeezy Announces Def Jam Departure And New Double Album
After nearly 20 years, Jeezy has announced on Monday (Oct. 30) that he is leaving Def Jam. He will now be releasing new music under his label, CTE New World, in partnership with Stem Distribution.
Fans don’t have to wait very long for the rap veteran‘s new tunes, as he also revealed that his new double album, I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget, will arrive this Friday (Nov. 3).
The two-part LP will delve into the trauma, life-altering moments, and people who helped mold the father of three, personally and professionally, on his journey to success and independence. The first installment, I Might Forgive, has 15 tracks and includes production from ATL Jacob, Ricky Polo, Cubeatz, Hendrix and others.
Meanwhile, But I Don’t Forget was produced entirely by The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and has 14 tracks. According to the track lists, there are no features on the album.
The departure and new album announcement comes on the heels of Jeezy’s memoir, Adversity for Sale: Ya Gotta Believe, becoming a New York Times bestseller, and his recent divorce from Jeannie Mai.
Of the split from Mai, he admitted that it was not an impulsive decision and “comes with a heavy heart.”
