Jeff Bridges Offers Health Update Three Years After Announcing Lymphoma Remission

Jeff Bridges has come forward with an update amid his battle with lymphoma. The actor told Page Six at Monday night’s 49th Chaplin Award Gala in New York that he's feeling much better three years after he came “pretty close to dying” amidst treatment.

"My health is great," he proudly replied when asked. “It’s such a learning experience being sick like that."

Though he gained a great deal of insight from his illness, it’s not a time he focuses much attention on. “It’s amazing the way the mind can forget all that stuff,” Bridges marveled. “I’m not thinking too much about the past.”

Bridges initially announced his diagnosis on Twitter in October 2020. He said the following January that the size of his tumor had “drastically shrunk,” and in September he announced he was officially in remission. “The [nine-inch by 12-inch] mass has shrunk down to the size of a marble," he shared on his website at the time.

Bridges wrote of his recovery process: "While I had moments of tremendous pain (screaming singing, a sort of moaning song all through the night), getting close to the Pearly Gates, all in all, I felt happy and joyous most of the time,” he confessed. "This brush with mortality has brought me a real gift: Life is brief and beautiful. Love is all around us, and available at all times.”

Bridges hasn’t wasted any time jumping back into work following his recovery. On Monday, news broke that he would be returning for the third installment in the Tron franchise, Tron: Ares. Bridges has played video game designer Kevin Flynn in each installment of the techno-thriller series to date.

“I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the Tron story,” Bridges revealed on the Film Comment podcast (via Deadline). “Jared Leto is the star of this third one,” the actor continued. “I’m really anxious to work with him; I’ve admired his work.”

Tron: Ares is expected to debut in cinemas on October 10, 2025.
