Jeff Daniels plays Charlie Croker in Netflix’s new limited drama series A Man in Full. The character is a powerful Atlanta real estate tycoon who is clinging to the past as his empire crumbles. Daniels reflected on the role and its exploration of masculinity and legacy in a conversation with ComingSoon.

“The times have changed here in 2024. That kind of man’s man isn’t necessarily revered the way he was decades ago. It’s not necessarily a goal anymore. Even the man’s man of the world could use a little humanity and sit down and be quiet for a while,” said Daniels of playing Charlie Croker.

“I mean, the times have changed, and I think David [E. Kelly] and Regina [King] and Tommy [Schlamme] did a great job of kind of blowing that up. It’s watching a dirigible or a blimp, the man’s man blimp, and then it just blows up and falls all the way to the Earth. That’s what A Man in Full does. By the end of the six episodes, it was a fun ride, even though I ended up faceplanting on Earth.”

What is A Man in Full about?

“When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace,” reads the limited series‘ synopsis. “A Man in Full is based on the New York Times bestselling novel by the late Tom Wolfe.”

David E. Kelley serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer on A Man in Full, with Regina King and Tommy Schlamme both directing episodes and executive producing. The series is also executive produced by Matthew Tinker, Thomas C. Wolfe, and Alexandra Wolfe.

In addition to Daniels, the show stars Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill, and Chanté Adams.
