Jelly Roll Experiences ‘Every Kid’s Dream Come True’ at Special Event
Jelly Roll had an experience that fans say kids dream about while attending a special event on Saturday, July 13.
The country music star was invited to present an award at the 2024 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, which took place Saturday at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. While onstage to introduce a group of nominees, the “Wild Ones” singer was interrupted by a rush of green liquid that gushed out of a giant straw prop positioned on the stage behind him.
In Nickelodeon parlance, the singer “got slimed,” thus becoming part of a decades-long tradition many former and current fans of the kids’ TV channel love.
Jelly Roll, 39, appeared personally thrilled by the experience. While he didn’t leave the event with any of the blimp trophies awarded to the night’s winners, despite being nominated in three categories, the “Son of a Sinner” singer indicated on social media that it had been worth it.
“I took those loses privately so God could heal my inner child publicly ??. Honored,” Jelly Roll wrote on Instagram on Saturday as he shared a video of his sliming with fans. In the clip, he appeared to be stunned at first when green slime began raining down on his head. His expression quickly turned to elation as he began smiling and laughing while pumping his fists over his head.
Fans who commented on his Instagram post seemed to agree that the experience was, as one Instagram user put it, “every kids dream come true.”
“The ultimate goal in life, to get Nickelodeon slimed ??,” one person commented.
“You now have officially made it!! Being slimed is ultimate!” another fan wrote while one person echoed their declaration, writing, “YOU MADE IT ??????.”
While many fans congratulated Jelly Roll, others reminisced over their own childhood dreams of getting slimed.
“The way I wanted to be slimed soo bad as a kiddo !” one person recalled.
“Literally a child hood dream. Congratulations on getting slimed,” one fan wrote as another agreed it was “Every child's dream! ??.”
