Jelly Roll Is a Local ‘Hero’ for Organizing Pop-Up Show After Morgan Wallen Concert Cancellation
Jelly Roll’s fans have yet another reason to love the country music star after he organized a special pop-up show following an unexpected concert cancellation.
Jelly Roll, 39, was due to open for Morgan Wallen at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., on Friday, July 12. However, Wallen announced a few hours before the show was to begin that he needed to reschedule the performance, as well as a couple of scheduled shows next week.
“I hate to reschedule shows but I powered through being sick in Tampa last night, and unfortunately woke up feeling way worse today,” Wallen, 31, told fans on X, formerly Twitter. Acknowledging that his illness meant he “would not give you guys anywhere near 100% tonight,” Wallen announced that he was rescheduling the concert, which is now expected to happen on Oct. 4.
After hearing the news, Jelly Roll made efforts to organize a pop-up event so that fans who planned on attending the original show would still have a fun way to spend their Friday night.
“Dear Tampa - I am working hard to put together something for y’all somewhere tonight - stay tuned,” the “Son of a Sinner” singer tweeted less than an hour after Wallen’s announcement.
A couple of hours later, the “Wild Ones” singer revealed a new plan for concertgoers.
“TAMPA! Dallas Bull tonight— doors open at 7pm. If you have a ticket to the show you get in for free. (This is for ticket holders only) FIRST COME FIRST SERVE,” he tweeted.
Video clips of Jelly Roll’s performance at the nightclub quickly spread online, with many fans touched by his efforts to pull a show together for them at the last minute.
"He is a class act. Took lemons and made lemonade!!!” one fan commented on a video of Jelly Roll’s arrival at the venue that was later shared on Instagram.
“Wow Jelly Roll! Just wow! What an amazing man you are to be there for the fans!” another Instagram user wrote.
“Dude is so humble. Love this guy,” one person commented while another declared that the “Need a Favor” singer became a “Tampa Bay hero tonight.”
“Bet! That’s the way to roll!” one fan praised, adding, “Love how he stepped up."
