Jelly Roll may be at the height of his musical career right now, but he’s also setting his sights on expanding his family with wife Bunnie XO.
The 39-year-old singer—already a dad to daughter Bailee Ann, 16, and son Noah Buddy, 7?, from previous relationships—got candid about his future family goals during an appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast on Tuesday, June 4.
Family plans were brought up as the “Highway to Hell” crooner opened up about his recent 60-pound weight loss, noting that his motivation was to live longer to see his kids—current and any potential future additions—grow up.
“My wife and I are talking about having a baby, and it really made me realize that at almost 40, I was like, it means I got to live to at least 60. I got to see this kid into college,” he explained.
"I was young, so I was like, ’56 would be great for me! … It’s better than 27 when all the other stars died. It’s 27 or 56 in the celebrity world. Let me be 56.’ But now I’m like, ‘I’d like to see my 60s.’ You know what I mean? And that really lit it up,” he continued, bringing up Jerry Garcia, who passed at 53.
Bunnie co-signed the interview by sharing a clip of the video on her Instagram page, admitting that the couple decided to undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF) to expand their brood.
Per the NHS, IVF is a technique utilized to help those with fertility issues. The process involves removing an egg from the woman’s ovaries and fertilizing it with sperm in a lab. The fertilized egg, called an embryo, is then placed back into a woman’s womb.
"Papabear dropped a surprise on this pod today,” she wrote, confessing, “We had planned on doing this privately, but decided our ivf journey needed to be shared because we’ve always been so open.”
"And w/all odds stacked against us, it’s always been hard & we have only just begun,” she explained with a teary-eyed emoji.
“God Willing- Baby DeFord 2026 ?? @bussinwtb,” the 44-year-old’s caption noted.
Fans immediately took to the comments to send all their love, with one fan writing, “?????????? oh bunnie my heart is exploding for you guys!!!!!! You are already an amazing mama! I can’t wait to see your baby bump one day!!! ????????.”
“Omg!!!! Best news on the internet! I’m cheering for baby deford!” someone else quipped, as a third added, “Praying for health and fertility for you both ???? it’s truly the greatest blessing ??.”
Bunnie and Jelly Roll (real names Alisa and Jason Bradley DeFord) first met in 2015 and wed soon after in a spontaneous courthouse ceremony in 2016. While she has no biological children of her own, the couple was granted full custody of Bailee in 2017 due to her mother’s drug addiction.
The “Wild Ones" artist celebrated his weight loss milestone in May, explaining how proud he is after completing a 5K.
"I couldn't walk a mile when I started trying to do this back in January," the Grammy nominee admitted, emphasizing, "So the fact that we got 3-point-whatever it was, got it down, I felt really, really good about it."
During training for the event, he also shared that he lost an impressive amount of weight—a ballpark figure of "like 50 to 70-something pounds," to be (somewhat) exact.
