Jenna Bush Hager Shares 'Too Cute' Story of Son 'Breaking Up' With Lainey Wilson

Even little kids can get big crushes—just ask Jenna Bush Hager. As the Today host told Hoda Kotb, her 4-year-old son, Hal, apparently took quite a liking to singer/actress Lainey Wilson when the Yellowstone star appeared on the show.

After Bush Hager introduced Hal and her daughters—Mila, 11, and Poppy, 8—to the country star, the little boy whispered to Mila that Wilson asked him to be her boyfriend—and he happily agreed.

Alas, the romance was doomed to be short-lived. As Bush Hager explained, when she and her husband, Henry Chase Hager, teased Hal about his imaginary relationship, he made the tough decision to break things off.

“So then Henry and I kind of made fun of him and then I heard him the other day say, ‘Well, I called and broke up with her,'” Hager explained.

After laughing about the story with Kotb, Hager shared an important message for Wilson.

“Lainey, you have an admirer named Hal Hager who has created a whole story about how y’all once dated and then he called and dumped you, which we know is false.”

Bush Hager often talks about her kids on Today, and has said that she would have liked to have more children, but her husband is decidedly not on board, as People reported.

"I’d like to have another baby," she said. "We’re not. Henry put his foot down. He says we have three healthy babies."

Bush Hager has also said that her parents, former president George W. Bush and Laura Bush, are typical "fun" grandparents.

"They kind of break up the schedules. They're like, 'Sure you can have your iPad all morning. You want ice cream for breakfast? Sure,'" she said.

Maybe Grandma and Grandpa would have been more encouraging of Hal's crush than his mom and dad were!
