Jenna Dewan shares tips for quarantining with a newborn; Meghan McCain calls pregnancy 'bittersweet'

In quarantine with a newborn? You got this, says Jenna Dewan.

In an interview with People published Wednesday, just over two weeks after she and fiance Steve Kazee welcomed their first child together, Dewan opened up about how they're getting by with a new baby at home amid the coronavirus quarantine.

“I was planning to nest at home and spend really good quality time with our new baby, so not much of that has changed,” Dewan, 39, said. “I like to hole up at home and really enjoy this time together and not go out in the world too much. The difference is we’re not having many visitors."

The actress revealed on Instagram that the couple – who announced their engagement last month – welcomed their first child together on March 6 and named him Callum Michael Rebel Kazee. Callum is the first child for Kazee, 44, and the second for Dewan, who shares 6-year-old daughter Everly with ex-husband Channing Tatum.

"And just like that, our hearts exploded into all of eternity and beyond," she captioned a black-and-white photo of her snuggling their new bundle of joy. "Welcome to the world you little angel!"

Pro tip from the Dewan-Kazee household: Quarantine with a baby is what you make it. Dewan highlighted the benefits of being able to use video chat services like FaceTime and Skype, which are letting their friends and family meet the new baby from a safe distance.

“Perspective is important here. We’re really choosing to look at the positives and enjoy the simple quality family time we’re all getting,” says Dewan. “And we’re definitely practicing the social distancing and making sure we’re doing our part to help the world out with social distancing and flattening the curve.”

Meanwhile, "The View" co-host Meghan McCain, who revealed earlier this week she and husband Ben Domenech were expecting, says being pregnant amid the coronavirus is "bittersweet."

"We're excited, a little surprised," McCain told her "View" co-hosts via satellite Wednesday. "It's a little bittersweet because there's just a lot of people in a lot of pain right now and I obviously would prefer to be in studio with all of you, but my doctors – I went to many – recommended against it."

McCain, 35, announced the pregnancy news with Domenech on Instagram Sunday, eight months after opening up about her miscarriage.

"I think everyone knows this has not been a smooth road to motherhood," McCain added. "It's taken physical, mental, emotional strength to get here and I think, like for a lot of women, it wasn't a straight line."

Still, McCain is excited about her future as a mom and she's looking to mothers who have welcomed their kids in tougher circumstances for reassurance.

"People have had babies in much worse and much more intense conditions," she said. "This is just how it's going to be for a little while."
