Jenna Ortega’s Career So Far: 11 Movies And TV Shows Starring The ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Actress
With the momentum of stardom in her favor after Netflix’s Wednesday and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Jenna Ortega will surely take on more Hollywood projects following Season 2 of Wednesday, which is currently in production.
Before these two Tim Burton projects, Ortega had roles in several other Netflix films and a television show as well as separate feature films. She got her start in a Colgate toothpaste commercial and then a Disney Channel show that mirrored the aspect of her big family.

Some might recognize Ortega as the actress who portrayed the younger version of Jane Gloriana Villanueva (portrayed by Gina Rodriguez when she’s older) in the CW’s Jane the Virgin. She also appeared in Studio 666 a horror film in which the Foo Fighters move into a storied rock ‘n roll studio that starts to haunt their work. Most recently right before the arrival of Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice in theaters, Ortega appeared in the music video for “Taste,” the third single off of singer Sabrina Carpenter’s new album “Short ‘n Sweet.”
Stuck in the Middle – Disney+
Ortega got her start as Harley Diaz, middle child of seven total siblings, on the Disney Channel show Stuck in the Middle. Her onscreen costars included Ariana Greenblatt as Daphne Diaz, Kayla Maisonet as Georgie Diaz, Nicolas Bechtel as Lewie Diaz, Malachi as Beast Diaz and Joshua Bassett as Aiden Peters.
You – Netflix
Before starring in Netflix’s tentpole Wednesday, Ortega appeared in You as main character Ellie Alves in the second season of the slasher series about serial killer Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley).
The Babysitter: Killer Queen – Netflix
Ortega appeared as Phoebe in Netflix’s The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2021), a slasher directed by McG starring Judah Lewis as Cole, who survived a traumatic experience with babysitter Bee (Samara Weaving) two years ago.
Yes Day – Netflix
In the Netflix family film Yes Day (2021), Ortega played the eldest daughter of Allison (Jennifer Garner) and Carlos Torres (Edgar Ramirez) — Katie. The film centers on the Torres parents having one day when they grant their children’s wild requests that they would normally shut down with a no.
The Fallout – Max
Universal’s The Fallout (2021) stars Jenna Ortega as Vada, a high school student who survives a high school tragedy alongside Maddie Ziegler’s Mia Reed.
Scream – Paramount+
Ortega portrays Tara Carpenter in Scream (2022), which arrived 25 years after the original first film of the franchise.
X
In X (2022), the first film of a trilogy directed by Ti West and starring Mia Goth, Ortega played Lorraine, a member of a group of young filmmakers whose elderly host catches them making a movie on a rural Texas farm.
Wednesday – Netflix
Putting her spin on Wednesday Addams in Tim Burton’s version of the Addams Family character on Netflix, Ortega wears the familiar black braids and deadpan expression of the titular character. She also portrayed Wednesday’s ancestor Goody in Season 1. Season 2 is in production.
Scream VI – Paramount+
Ortega reprised her role of Tara Carpenter in Scream VI (2023) which watches Ghostface follow the crew in the reboot from Woodsboro, Calif. To New York.
Miller’s Girl – Netflix
Ortega portrayed Cairo Sweet in Miller’s Girl (2024), directed by Jade Halley Bartlett. The film also stars Martin Freeman as Mr. Miller.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice – In Theaters Sept. 6
Ortega will carry on the line of the Deetz family as Astrid, daughter of Winona Ryder’s Lydia, in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024), the follow-up sequel to the 1988 film.
