In an interview with Elle, she talked about how she doesn’t like romantic comedies— whether it’s for movies or her own life. “I hate being googoogaga over a boy,” Ortega told the site. “I think it’s secretly a pride thing. It’s a problem with a lot of female characters, that a lot of them are guy oriented or what they’re expressing or emoting is based on a guy’s position and a guy’s story.”

Jenna Ortega is currently single. In the same Elle interview, she admitted that she’s prioritizing work instead. “Maybe I am too obsessed with my work, but the idea of relationships stresses me out,” she explains. “And also being that vulnerable with someone and having to get to know someone that well and having someone see you for all that you are…My brain knows that I don’t need to think about that right now.” However, she’s been wrapped in some rumors with some people she’s worked with. Jenna Ortega was rumored to be linked with Jacob Sartorius after she starred in the music video for his song “Chapstick” as his love interest in 2017. However, Jacob shut down those rumors immediately. “We’re really good friends, and she’s really nice,” Jacob told J-14 at the time. “It was really fun to film the video. She’s really nice, so we had good chemistry on camera and off.”

2. Rumored: Asher Angel (2018)

Jenna Ortega was rumored to be in a relationship with Asher Angel after the two dressed up for Halloween as Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson who were in a very public relationship at the time. The two attended the Venom red carpet together but the two haven’t confirmed if they were ever in a relationship.

3. Rumored: Percy White Hynes (2021)

Jenna Ortega was rumored to be dating her Wednesday co-star Percy White Hynes. The two also starred in the romcom Winter Spring Summer or Fall. However, they never acknowledged if they were ever in a relationship.

Deadline reported that Hynes was not returning as a main cast member in the second season of Wednesday after reports of alleged sexual misconduct. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jenna called his departure “a weird redirect, but we’re introducing so many different characters that I think it kind of will get lost.”

4. Rumored: Johnny Depp (2022)

Okay, this one was definitely a stretch, but the Jenna Ortega was wrapped in dating rumors with Johnny Depp, who is 40 years older than her.

The rumor started when Deuxmoi reportedly received an anonymous tip claiming that the pair had been spotted together and were possibly working on the sequel to Beetlejuice together. According to the Daily Mail, the rumors of his involvement with the project first started in June 2022 when Depp was temporarily listed as a cast member in Beetlejuice 2 on Google search results, but that has since been debunked because he’s not in the movie or doing movie promotion at all.

In Buzzfeed‘s Puppy Interview, the 21-year-old Wednesday actress discussed the “craziest rumor” with the 61-year-old actor. “Probably that I was in a serious relationship with Johnny Depp and I wanted everybody to leave us alone. It’s so insane to me,” she said. “I never said anything like that.”
