Jennie Garth Reveals the Sweet Way She’s Keeping Late ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Co-Star Luke Perry’s Memory Alive
More than five years after his death, Luke Perry is still being remembered in sweet ways by some of the people he worked closely with in Hollywood.
One of the gestures that his Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star, Jennie Garth, made in his memory was through her new QVC clothing line, Me by Jennie Garth. As the actress explained during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, she decided to name her line’s denim jacket after Dylan McKay, the character that Perry played when they starred together on the hit teen drama series in the '90s.
“When you think of Dylan McKay, you think of that jean jacket that he wore,” Garth said, adding that Perry “wore it so well.”
Garth, who reprised her role as Kelly Taylor for the Beverly Hills, 90210 CW spinoff series, 90210, in 2008, told ET that she battled imposter syndrome as she embarked on her latest career venture. She felt “real blocks and challenges” while preparing the first release of her new line, but felt comforted when she thought of Perry.
“I would close my eyes, and he would—I could see him—and he would just be standing there, saying, ‘Keep going. Keep going,’” the What I Like About You star said.

Garth, 52, also drew comparisons during her interview between the loss of Perry and that of her father. When her father died, Garth recalled being told over and over that things would “get better” and time would help her “heal.” While she said she “eventually got to that place” with her father, it wasn’t as difficult a path to travel when Perry passed, since she had already experienced losing someone close to her.
“With Luke, it was hard, but it was easier because I knew that that would happen eventually,” she explained.
The Riverdale actor died unexpectedly in 2019 after suffering a stroke. He was 52 at the time of his death.
